Worcester Charter 400 Celebrations

Image

The Charter 400-year festival is a celebration of the charter issued on the 2nd October 1621 by King James I to the first Mayor of Worcester.

I focused on the prominent industries in Worcester; past and present. I chose the hop market, glove-making, porcelain and finally, today's tourism.

Throughout the design there are facts about the industries and famous people who visited Worcester, there are also transfers of original photographs of the glove makers. The people carrying umbrellas represent the Festival of Lights; the umbrellas have fairy lights sewn in. There is also a mirror for viewers to be part of the artwork.

Size: 3m x 3m

The wall hanging is kept at Worcester Guildhall.
